Manages and supervises the analysis of accounting rules and regulations, and preparation of reports and policies related thereto.


  • Manages the interpretation and analysis of new accounting principles and regulatory decisions from the Financial Accounting Standards Board, Securities and Exchange Commission, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the California Public Utility Commission and/or other authoritative bodies which formulate or have jurisdiction over financialreporting or accounting matters, to assess the accounting impact.
  • Manages the implementation of accounting rule/regulatory changes to ensure compliance.
  • Provide accounting research and guidance as needed in response to requests from functional accounting areas throughout the PM4.
  • Keeps up-to-date on new innovative accounting and reporting methods and reviews proposed or alternate accounting and financialreporting procedures.
  • Investigates consequences of each method and recommends appropriate format for Company reporting.
  • Participates in the determination of the reporting impact of accounting and financial changes and directs steps necessary to correct or reflect adjustments to ensure accurate reporting
  • Able to convey in original written correspondence and reports, complex technical matter in a clear and concise manner, adapted to the needs of technical and non-technical clients.
  • Manages the development of Company and/or industry positions relative to financialreporting and accounting issues and reviews responses to the authoritative rule-making bodies when appropriate in an effort to affect the final outcome.
  • Continuously monitor, document and communicate the development of new accounting standards, interpretations, and emerging guidance to the finance organization, including current and future impact on the company
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).


  • Able to convey in original written correspondence and reports, complex technical matter in a clear and concise manner, adapted to the needs of technical and non-technical clients.
  • Full understanding of the "Big Picture" and ability to interpret accounting and financial theories and concepts, and develop alternative solutions to the Company's current business and regulatory issues to enhance competitive positioning and maximize shareholder value.
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of accounting methods and techniques and the ability to apply both in analyzing complex transactions.
  • Skills in leadership and teambuilding, organizing, planning, controlling, coordinating, and delegating to effectively manage and develop staff, and achieve organizational goals.
  • Possesses strong negotiation and interpersonal skills to persuade and influence those with divergent opinions toward consensus.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles generally accepted in the U.S.  Understanding of the interrelationship of utility rate making, tax, and general purpose accounting concepts is desirable.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and internal controls.
  • Technical proficiency in all FASB and SEC accounting and reporting issues applicable to the Company and its affiliates must be maintained.



Typically requires BS/BA in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field and 8 or more years previous experience or equivalent training and/or experience. Must also have a knowledge of advanced accounting and financial theory normally acquired through graduate level coursework. CPA, CMA, MBA and/or other professional certificates/advanced degrees are preferred. Lead or supervisory experiencedesired.
