Acts as senior educator teaching students how to move from traditional Waterfall development to Agile/SCRUM application development. Must know how to transfer Agile project management best practices including production impact analysis, risk management, cross-team interdependencies, release scheduling, scope definition, delivery objectives, quality standards, and user needs identification. Must know best teaching methods to use with students to educate them about Agile/SCRUM project and release planning, including product vision and implementation, Scrum ceremonies, Scrum of Scrums discovery, design, and other brainstorm meetings. Must be able to interface with non-technical teams and government personnel to ensure knowledge transfer of how to deliver product releases smoothly, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Trains and educates non-Agile/SCRUM developers in all facets of Agile/SCRUM software development. Teaches students how to manage all aspects of an agile software delivery project: 1) how to work with the customer to understand strategic direction, 2) build an execution plan and execute against that plan 3) oversee deliverables and overall project schedule, 4) manage senior-level customer relationships, 5) oversee drive for quality and process improvements, 6) enact SCRUM values and principles; 7) facilitate daily SCRUM meetings, 8) remove impediments, 9) organize Sprint Planning/Grooming sessions; 10) conduct Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives; 11) maintain JIRA, Information Radiators, etc. for teams, etc.
Will also work with program management and product owners to ensure product backlogs are well-groomed, prioritized and visible to all stakeholders with focus on managing project risks, dependencies and issues and driving to resolutions.
Due to the nature of the government contract, US Citizenship is required. Must live/work in VA/WV as primary offices will be at USCG OSC, Kearneysville, WV.
Public Trust or Secret Clearance required.
This position is contingent on award.
- Demonstrated leadership, customer management, and ability to teach/train non Agile programmers how to become Agile/SCRUM experts over time. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including simplifying and presenting complex data to students not familiar with Agile constructs. Must have excellent oral, written and presentation skills. Must demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate team members. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
BS in Computer Science or complimentary discipline required; Must be certified SCRUM Master, PMP certification a plus. Requires 5+ years of IT experience and 3 or more years of experience as a SCRUM Master. Must have 3+ years experience teaching Agile/SCRUM software development methods and coding concepts to students that are primarily Waterfall trained.
Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
