The Engineering & Quality Manager leads, plans, organizes, and coordinates a highly skilled team of electrical and mechanical design/project engineers and support staff engaged in the design and development of new and/or modified products in accordance with customer specifications, established engineering policies, and government/industry standards. The manager is responsible for technical aspects of both new and legacy products and directly supportsSales and Marketing efforts.
This position is also responsible for leading and directing the quality function, including the FAA repair station with and through the Quality Assurance Manager. This position is responsible for driving the resolution of technical problems, providing technical/quality support to Operations, communicating directly with customers, and supporting customers with an FAA repair station.

Provides leadership for environmental, health and safety (EHS) as related to areas of responsibility and collaborates with others to support a safe environment. Ensures safe work practices are in place and engineering and quality employees comply with all EHS polices and regulations.
Maintains overall technical ownership/authority and leads the team engaged in the design and development of company products in accordance with customer requirements, specifications, company policies and external regulations, providing hands-on support as necessary to achieve timely and effective results. This includes planning, organizing, and scheduling resources and leading complex projects to ensure achievement of deliverables.
Facilitates communication and interaction among the team members and those outside the team by advocating and fostering cross-functional teamwork using practices such as open communication, concurrent engineering, and continuous improvement.
Department efficiency and productivity with a focus on improving product development cycle time, quality, and overall speed to market. This may include conducting technical studies to develop improved and state-of-
the-art engineering techniques, processes, policies, and standards in areas such as the design
process, documentation, testing, fabrication methodology, and transfer to production.
Supports the sale and marketing of company products by providing technical analysis of customer
requirements and specifications and resolving technical issues while collaborating with customers,
Product, Sales and Marketing teams to develop innovative, cost effective, manufacturable design
Collaborates on the preparation of periodic design meetings in accordance with the contract and/or
other program or company requirements.
Reviews, analyzes, and interprets the technical and administrative requirements contained in
requests for proposal (RFP), requests for quotation (RFQ), requests for information (RFI),
information for bid (IFB), etc. in order to generate technical proposals, including identifying
program tasks and preparing associated cost estimates
Identifies new and/or opportunistic applications and ideas in addition to cultivating relationships
with current and target customers. Creates innovative and proprietary technology and product
platforms using focused resources and cross-functional teamwork.
Participates in activities to enhance company productivity and improve overall company
performance with a focus on improving quality and speed to market to continue reputation
as a value-added partner.
Leads, in coordination with the Quality Assurance Manager, quality inspection and improvements in
products and processes.
Provides direction and oversight of FAA Part 145 Repair Station activities through the Repair Station

Guides the development and implementation of long and short-term goals and objectives within
the engineering and quality departments and ensures they are aligned with the overall company
goals and objectives.
Conducts annual performance appraisals and on-going performance management, provides
recommendations on personnel placement, staffing levels, compensation, external resource
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline
Must have demonstrated professional knowledge of engineering principles, strong analytical and
critical thinking, and innovation skills
Must have demonstrated leadership and management skills and techniques (people/team
management, influencing, negotiation, assertiveness, cross-functional collaboration, and conflict
resolution) as well as the ability to function as a team member/individual contributor
Must be able to resolve technical problems, effectively manage multiple technical projects
simultaneously, and work with customer contacts to define design parameters
Ability to identify and mitigate project/program risks and communicate project/program goals and
Must have a high level of comprehension and numerical ability (analytical), detail-orientation with
solid organizational skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate at all levels, both
internally and externally
Must have superior computer skills with strong knowledge of MS Office products and 3D CAD/CAE
(knowledge of SolidWorks PDM is preferred)
Knowledge of power circuits / power supply design / lighting electronic design
Must have an understanding of drawing requirements and standards, such as Geometric
Dimensioning and Tolerancing
Must have knowledge of quality systems, including regulatory requirements
