Summary of This Role
The Automation Engineer/Technical Consultant role has industry proven experience in the field of DevOps with a focus on automating mainframe deployment and release management activities. Has the ability to look at the current state of deployment and release management tools and software and make recommendations on finding efficiencies through automation and other industry best practices. Works in a fast paced environment with 20 deployment lead and release manager professionals.
What Part Will You Play?
Provides the technical direction for the TSYS core mainframe deployment and release management activities.
Coordinates and/or provides technical direction and support to multiple work teams regarding multiple work components for the mainframe system, and collaborates with others to problem solve complex issues with diverse scopes.
The primary technical escalation point of contact for the management of mainframe deployment and release management systems issues that require in-depth evaluation of variable factors and/or multiple components.
Uses independent judgment to resolve varied and complex issues based on specialized experience and knowledge.
Assumes project management role and/or Subject Matter Expert and is recognized as technical authority.
Consults regarding possible software solutions using a wide-range of specialized experiences, professional concepts, and company objectives to resolve complex issues involving multiple components in a creative and effective way.
Exhibits strong leadership skills by helping others adapt to change; develops team members on new proven responsibilities.
Interacts with a diverse range of leaders, including senior management or possibly executive leadership and clients.
Ability to present new concepts to others and influence their decision making with well documented and proven facts.
Uses strong risk management skills to set the tone on what is required for team members to proactively identify and mitigate risks prior to project and release migration activities.
Provides training to help team members increase their effectiveness.
Negotiates with stakeholders to determine scope and budget of work activities which advance business objectives and client needs.
Builds and maintains customer relationships.
Participates in client facing meetings, joint venture discussions, vendor partnerships, client and internal development team working solutions to determine solution approaches.
Work initiatives include solution design, problem resolution and management, system enhancements, or implementing new systems.
Work initiatives pose more risk to the organization regarding impacts to other critical work streams, and involves more complex system integration efforts and requires more specialization of knowledge of multiple components.
Provides the work initiative's Project Manager with input for status reporting.
Tracks assigned tasks for deployment and release management to keep on schedule and to recommend adjustments to resource allocation based on work prioritization. Reviews deliverables for content, accuracy, and potential system impacts for assigned tasks. Reviews deliverables for alignment with objectives and provides feedback and recommendations.
What Are We Looking For in This Role?
Relevant Experience or Degree in: IT, Computer Science, MIS or Business or equivalent work experience, such as relevant technical background and/or work product/SME knowledge in lieu of a degree.
Typically Minimum 8Years Relevant Exp
Mainframe or distributed programming background with previous experience in automation engineering.
Certifications in database or othertechnologies used by the application he/she is leading, e.g. Mainframe Development, Oracle, Web, Java; b. PCI certifications; c. Technical skills Database Development skills in Oracle 10g/11g PL/SQL; Database Administration skills in Oracle 10g/11g; C, C++, ANSI C; VB.NET, ASP.NET and Microsoft Visual Studio; UNIX/Linux Operating Systems
