Job Summary

The Senior HRIS Reporting Analyst is responsible for building and enhancing the HRreporting, Business Intelligence and analytics functions.  This role will develop, analyze and summarize data in a relevant and meaningful quality driven manner supporting business decisions, process improvements, operational efficiencies and strategic initiatives.  This role is responsible for developing and presenting information, findings and results to multiple levels of management.  The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in quantitative analysis, with the ability to translate the numbers into distinct and actionable insights about the company’s workforce; identify trends and understand the specific information that can drive business change or transformation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the expert in HR metrics, reporting, and advanced and predictive analytics in Cognos/Workday
  • Utilize technology and analytical tools (e.g., Cognos, Tableau, Workday)
  • Develop and prepare reports incorporating key metrics such as headcount, turnover/retention, engagement, open positions/vacancies, absence; in support of strategic initiatives
  • Focus on developing BI that includes the analysis of historical data from multiple sources enabling informed decision making and problem identification and resolution
  • Consult with all levels of management on key findings and workforce information
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across HR to gather and interpret requirements, develop requirements documentation; develop metrics, reports and dashboards to support the needs of the business
  • Promote data governance and stewardship to improve overall data quality and assist in managing the company’s workforce data
  • Design metrics/reports to proactively identify trends across the business
  • Run regular audits on HR data and report issues
  • Develop a significant understanding of the business and organization structure aligning data requests to business objectives
  • Design / build Tableau dashboard, Cognos reporting and WorkdayHRreporting and dashboards – leverage Workday’s capabilities; composite and custom reporting
  • Mentor team members on the use and interpretation of metrics and analytics and support the development of this capability throughout the HR organization

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years overall experience in HR analytics and reporting (e.g. headcount, turnover, recruiting metrics and other analytics)
  • Experience with Cognos, SQL, Tableau and/or other related reporting and analytic tools
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, database  and data analysis skills
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to build storyboards / visual presentations using data  
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities, including the ability to multitask to manage high-visibility, high-priority projects while meeting deadlines and quality standards
  • Builds and maintains excellent relationships with stakeholders to ensure that operational business needs are met
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, including PowerPoint and Excel (formulas, pivot tables, v-lookup, macros, charts & graphs)
  • Exceptional problem solving skills, with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with superior service delivery and customer service focus
  • Demonstrated ability to lead efforts to standardize, optimize, and simplify reporting


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Statistics or related disciplines
  • 2+ years Workdayreporting experience, with a solid understanding of the WorkdayReport Writer, data sources, calculated fields; along with custom, matrix and composite reports.
