This information technology professional will function as an application analyst and must demonstrate a strong mix of technological information systems, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills.  The financial application analyst position will provide front-line support in providing customer assistance and troubleshooting on application issues related to patient access systems and processes within the VCUHS.  Position will be responsible for performing basic system analysis, design, and programing for multiple applications and is responsible for assisting with formal testing efforts and peer reviews for system changes.  Position will be primarily responsible for working with scheduling applications in GE/IDX and Cerner and supporting scheduling and arrival processes for Ambulatory and Ancillary services throughout the VCU Medical Center.  Additionally, this position will be responsible for maintaining applications associated with appointment scheduling, such as self-check-in kiosk, registration portal, form letters, and appointment reminders.  Position is responsible for assembling data related to support provided on a weekly basis. The position will perform tasks independently; therefore, the ability to manage assignments with little supervision is required.  Most assignments will typically be performed within the context of a team effort; therefore the ability to work collaboratively and creatively is required.  The applications developed or maintained by this position are in support of the revenue cycle processes (scheduling, registration, admissions, discharges, transfers, charging, billing, etc), so business knowledge of these areas is preferred.  Technical expertise using or supporting application development tools such as IDX, Cerner, etc, is required.  Demonstrated past experience in providing end user support is strongly preferred.  Experience in application development and with HL7 interfaces a plus.  Position will act as a primary IT liaison with key clinical and administrative departments.  Demonstrated proficiency using other PC based applications such as Microsoft Office Suite is also required. 


Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions with work completed with accuracy and sound judgment ensuring objectives are met.

Position typically requires a Bachelors Degree with three (3) to six (6) years of related experience, or equivalent combination of related education and experience
