Description of Duties:

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, is seeking a full time faculty member at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank for our Institute-based and community integrated Palliative Care Program. Roswell Park is currently expanding its Supportive Care Services and Palliative Care is an integral part of this larger multidisciplinary effort in the disease management of the cancer patient. In 2016, Supportive Care Services will move to a newly built Clinical Sciences Center adjacent to the main hospital. The Palliative Care team supports both the outpatient and inpatient needs of Roswell Park patients throughout the continuum of their cancer care. This includes symptom management, pain control, psychosocial needs, advanced care planning, as well as end-of-life care and coordination of hospice services within the community.

As a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, this service must adhere to clinical guidelines as it relates to pain management and supportive care treatment plans.

This position would include primarily clinical responsibilities, working with a team of physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, a social worker and pastoral care members, and must embrace this interdisciplinary method of treating the whole patient. Ideal candidates will have exemplary clinical skills, and a keen understanding of symptom management and transitional needs of the cancer patient from supportive care to end-of-life. The position will include an appointment at both Roswell Park and the University at Buffalo Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine within the Department of Medicine. The University at Buffalo appointment will expect and encourage active participation within a growing Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program and opportunities for education, mentorship and research.

Qualifications:

The Candidate must be board certified or board eligible in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine.
