Hunt Energy Enterprises has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated chemical or mechanical engineer to help demonstrate new technologies emerging from the HEE R&D pipeline. This position will work closely with Senior Scientists and Management to scale-up laboratory proven processes to the pilot plant stage. This process development engineer fulfills a vital role by applying technical and leadership skills to support pilot plant preparations and daily operations, coaching and assisting others, resolving process problems, and enabling safe and efficient execution of production campaigns.

The job is unique in that it straddles both chemical manufacturing and R&D work environments. The job includes traditional plant engineering responsibilities, but with a requisite exploratory mindset to assist with the implementation and demonstration of new processes through multiple short-duration campaigns. While executing campaigns, the engineer will be responsible for generating process data useful in the design and operation of full-scale manufacturing of lithium carbonate or any other new molecules being developed.

  • Assist in the commercialization of new process technologies
  • Understand process development vision and timelines and then demonstrate high responsiveness in execution
  • Provide leadership in the day-to-day decision making for pilot plant operations, including advanced trouble shooting
  • Creation and review of procedures and operating discipline
  • Optimize operations to meet campaign goals associated with EHS, quality and product integrity, and schedule
  • Oversee pilot plant construction and schedule routine maintenance of facilities
  • Responsible for campaign planning and execution including laboratory automation, data collection, and statistical data analysis

Required Skills

  • Strong chemical engineering and process development skillsets
  • Strong organizational skills to turn abstract ideas into concrete actions

  • Well versed in materials of construction and corrosion mechanisms
  • Familiarity with various codes and standards and their application
  • Generate and read PFD's and P&ID's
  • Familiarity with HAZOP reviews and EHS standards
  • Ability to create innovative engineering designs
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills, and ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information and in the time required
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with management, lab personnel, and third parties

Required Experience

  • 7 + years of relevant experience subsequent to an undergraduate degree in either chemical or mechanical engineering (minimum 3 years in industry with 4 years of graduate training in chemical or mechanical engineering).
  • Preferred experience in some or all of the following:
  • Pilot plant construction, control and operation;
  • Water Treatment including Reverse Osmosis (RO) and other physical separation processes;
  • Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA);
