We have a rare opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to support the development of world-class compression systems located in East Hartford or Middletown, CT. You support the manufacture and build of gas turbine engine hardware, ensuring parts and assemblies meet engineering intent. You will work collaboratively to solve problems with integrated product teams and system design teams.

In this role you will:

  • Review and analyze manufacturing data
  • Identify producibility improvement areas, solve engine assembly issues, and execute changes to product definition and engine manuals.
  • Perform tolerance stacks, failure mode and effects analysis, and preliminary structural analyses,
  • Conduct 3D modeling and use data obtained via 3D metrology methods.
  • Collaborate with all supporting disciplines such as Aerodynamics, Heat Transfer and Secondary Flow, Structures, Engineering Dynamics and Loads, and Manufacturing.
  • Thrive in a fast paced environment working on multiple components, interpreting analysis results for accuracy and proposing alternate solutions

This is an Alternative Work Week position, consisting of 3, 12hr shifts for weekend coverage (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
  • 5+ years of Design engineering experience
  • U.S. Citizenship due to government contracts
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Teamcenter, Unigraphics (UG), UG Motion, Ansys, GEO Magic or GOM Inspect and classical methods of analysis
  • Turbomachinery design experience
  • Automated design optimization skills is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of hardware, blueprints, manufacturing and inspection methods is expected.
  • Ability to craft clear communication and develop meaningful relationships
