The Sr. Industrial Engineer will utilize leadership, experience and expertise in lean principles and industrial engineering concepts to optimize process workflow and eliminate non-value-added effort optimizing processes, workflow, facilities, and tools in our reconditioning and vehicle servicing operations.

The role is project-based and will design and implement improvements to our physical service with specific targeted improvements. These improvements will include cycle time reductions, cost reductions, SLA improvements, and other key operating metrics depending on needs of facility. Generally, the projects will be intended to be improvements that can scale across all 35+ facilities in the US and the expectation is that the Sr. Industrial Engineer identifies key opportunities and gaps in the core business systems & business processes; aligns with other key stakeholders, and leverages improvement methods, tools and techniques to eliminate waste (including costs).

This position requires a balance between strategic thinking and tactical implementation, and the ability to analyze critical performance data to drive improvement. The key objectives of this position are improved efficiency, reduced waste, and cost savings. Analyzes current state processes to determine improvement opportunities of alternatives. Determines key metrics and tracks performance improvement against baselines.


Position Responsibilities:

• Design and implement facility process and capacity improvements, in collaboration with operations teams: (60%)

• Utilize core industrial engineering skills such as: lean manufacturing / operations, six-sigma, process mapping, facility layout design, capacity modeling, operations research, etc.

• Assess current performance of facilities, including regular tracking of KPIs across all operations

• Evaluate the financial implications of strategic projects such as capital expenditures and process and technology changes

• Identify operational improvement opportunities, quantifying and developing the value proposition, developing strategies to achieve opportunity objectives, and driving implementation of the strategies into execution with solid project management using Lean Principles.

• Prioritizes various process improvements by developing and comparing ROI of the different alternatives / projects.

• A subject matter expert on all reconditioning activities and supports locations solve performance issues in a sustainable manner.

• Design and implement tools to improve facility operations: (30%) • Executes continuous improvement strategies by translating business objectives into actionable projects • When root cause issues are identified that require tools to drive improvement, design & implement appropriate solutions

• If needed, build a pilot version of tool prior to implementing a scaled solution

• Tools include shop floor management system, labor management system, reporting & metrics, and other applicable systems.

• Ensures all work follows environmental, health and safety standards, industry specifications, customer requirements, company standards and related specifications.

• Stays up to date with technology and changes in the industry to ensure that new opportunities are incorporated into existing processes.

• Influence and lead operations team to achieve operational excellence: (10%)

• Works with cross-functional teams (change management, HR, operations, deployment, etc.) to ensure that best practices are embraced and put into practice.

• Develop strong relationships with facility operations teams, from front-line personnel to leadership

• Ensure engagement and buy-in from operations team

• Become trusted partner of the operations team

• Acts as a change agent around continuous improvement opportunity

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•The candidate must have industrial engineering experience in a high-volume operations environment (manufacturing plant, distribution center, etc.) leading and executing improvements to the operation.

• Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Office software, including Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule in a team-based environment to meet organizational goals.

• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to develop positive relationships and influence across all levels of the organization is essential.

• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills with an aptitude for problem solving, able to develop SOP's and documentation for best practices distributing best practices/SOP's across multiple locations

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Experience collaborating with and leading people and teams at all levels of the organization including salaried, hourly staff, and external resources

• Demonstrated ability to work in a cross-discipline team environment.

• Stays up to date with technology and changes in the industry to ensure that new opportunities are incorporated into existing processes.


Experience and Education Required:


• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Research or similar

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, distribution, or another high-volume operations environment

• 5+years of experience focused in Lean Practice and Problem Solving.

• Operations Supervisory experience (preferred)

• Automotive and production experience (preferred)

• High degree of self-motivation and organization planning, with the ability to drive projects to completion.

• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (highly preferred).
