A position is currently available for a Project Engineer / Project Manager for missile modeling and simulation (M&S) efforts. Candidate will serve as project manager for multiple efforts overseeing the development of M&S products supporting the US government.
Responsibilities will include coordination of multi-organizational teams to establish product requirements, maintain the project schedules, track project costs, direct the development of complex M&S products, capture programmatic and technical risks, and report lessons learned and best practices. This role requires the ability to develop reports that accurately measure progress, identify potential problems in time for corrective actions to be taken, and ensure the meeting of the company's contract and financial commitments.
Candidate will apply project management and system engineering skills to coordinate multi-disciplinary activities across the Aerodynamics, Sensors, Signatures, and Software functional groups. Candidate will provide the engineering interface between the technical team, functional managers, and the internal program manager. Candidate will be responsible for the execution of the design and implementation of adversary threat system simulation projects. Candidate will frequently work with the Navy and MDA customers, program management and subject matter experts. This includes supporting communication and documentation, as well as interfacing with both government customers and contractors to establish and verify product requirements and specifications.
5 to 10 years of experience plus BS Degree.
Candidate must possess a degree in one of the following: Project Management, Engineering Management, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, or other relevant technical degree.
Candidate must be a strong, proactive leader with demonstrated experience leading a team of engineers, and must possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, as well as organizational skills. Candidate must have demonstrated interpersonal skills to enable working, interfacing, and interrelating with diverse personnel and dynamic teams. Occasional travel within the DC Metro area is required.
Desired Qualifications: Advanced Degree. Third party certification such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or INCOSE Engineering Professional (ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP) certifications. Demonstrated evidence of the following is desired: Knowledge of aerospace /defense systems technology domains; Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment, make effective and timely decisions, solve problems, and facilitate organizational and procedural changes; Experience presenting at technical reviews utilizing Microsoft Office Products. Experience with Microsoft Project for tracking project tasks, resources, and costs. Experience with Earned Value concepts and tools. Experience with high-fidelity modeling and simulation software development; Experience with cruise or ballistic missile defense programs; Demonstrated development and maintenance of strong working relationships with customers, contractors and teammates; Demonstrated experience working with Navy, Air Force, and DoD contractors in a development environment is desired.
The candidate must be a US citizen and have a background that would permit the U.S. Department of Defense to issue a Secret clearance.
