NIC’s Outdoor Recreation team is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated software engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment to join our Implementation Team. The Developer III of NIC’s Outdoor Recreation Implementation team will serve as a key engineering resource for the adaptation of NIC’s OneOutdoor SaaS platform to our partner State’s Commissions (Game, Fish and Watercraft) and must have demonstrated experience in the implementation of large scale projects, extensive development and integration of system interfaces, major migration of large volumes of application data from a retiring system to a new source of record, and ideally experience in the hunting and fishing realm. This person will ideally sit here in Kansas City yet must be available to the our clients State Commissions “onsite” 50%-80% of their time to help ensure the successful implementation of a SaaS based licensing system for our clients Outdoor Recreation program over the project duration of about a year.

SUMMARY:

NIC is looking for an individual contributor that is responsible for the implementation of new leading-edge web / mobile / e-Commerce SaaS business applications in the outdoor space. You will participate in project teams within our DNR business unit and corporate department and utilize various technology platforms within the cloud space. You will be part of an implementation team collaborating with our state business partners, and other technical staff to identify user requirements, assess available techniques, recommend and deliver application solutions.

You will help fully customize and implement our SaaS to fully match our partner’s needs. This position will likely require travel weekly during the most intensive integration activities, with all costs and housing provided and the opportunity to work remotely from home. While on site, you will be looked at as the expert on the ground, helping to ensure the successfully delivery and implementation of our One Outdoor platform.

Job duties in a few tidy bullet points:

  • Coding and implementation of Internet and e-commerce applications using the Microsoft tools along with open standards technologies (XHTML, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, etc.) for both traditional browsers and mobile devices within extreme use of “Cloud” for development (Azure VSTS) and hosting (AWS).
  • Plan, review, analyze, design, code and migrate new NIC partner from their legacy systems (internal and vendor) to NIC One Outdoor platform (highly configurable internet and e-commerce application)
  • Design, document, integrate, convert and validate relational databases
  • Work with a friendly yet savvy “onsite” implementation team to determine project functional and technical specifications, lay out timelines, and complete the job on time!
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements (WCAG, 508, HIPPA, SOX, PCI, Corporate, State, etc.)
  • Maintain confidentiality and secure practices throughout entire work cycle.
  • Mentor other implementation team members and share openly with our partners

You will definitely need all this:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • 5-7 years of experience in developing web applications with a strong knowledge of C#, ASP.NET, and MS Sql Server
  • Knowledge of object-oriented application design and relational database design
  • Experience with MVC, SharePoint, Entity Framework, Dependency Injection Framework a plus
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM methodologies
  • Experience in unit, regression, and performance testing
  • Experience building secure web applications – user authentication, role based access control, n-tier architecture, various encryption techniques, and input validation
  • Able to manage concurrent high priority projects
  • Good communication skills, as well as strong problem-solving abilities and an aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Knowledge of security methods and procedures
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and prioritization skills
