About the Role

As Houzz continues to grow, we need to grow and expand our People team to ensure we are providing the best possible employee experience in line with our values and culture. Our Director, Compensation & Benefits owns a huge part of that experience, ensuring our total rewards strategy continues to support our culture and growth. We're looking for someone to join the team and take charge on all things compensation and benefits related.

You'll be a key member of the People leadership team, reporting to the Head of People. You will lead a team of analytically minded employees who support the design and delivery of our compensation, benefits and incentive programs that align with our values. You are willing to be hands on and work side by side with your team to deliver programs, processes and experiences that reward and incentivize our most crucial resource: our people.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop and execute on a comprehensive global total rewards strategy that aligns with our culture and business strategy, allowing us to attract, retain, and motivate top talent, including, but not limited to, compensation program design, analysis and modeling, budgeting and implementation of new programs
  • Partner with the Head of People and executive team to ensure our programs align with our strategic objectives and support our culture
  • Partner with global stakeholders on compensation issues, and work on a variety of special compensation projects as needed
  • Create scalable processes and programs that support our rapid growth while continuing to deliver an incredible employee experience
  • Perform deep analysis on the effectiveness and competitiveness of existing compensation programs, and model the potential impact of alternatives
  • Lead strategic projects including building out our global compensation strategy and framework as well as continuous improvement of existing programs such as the Sales incentive plans
  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of compensation tools and systems that will allow us to scale
  • Develop, manage and analyze our compensation and benefits practices in relation to local markets, and propose changes to remain competitive
  • Own the communications strategy and plan for compensation and benefits, ensuring our employees understand all that's being offered

At a Minimum, We'd Like You to Have

  • 8+ years of experience in finance, compensation, sales operations, sales commissions or consulting with an in-depth knowledge of core compensation, benefits terminology and best practices, ideally at rapidly growing, global companies
  • Experience designing, implementing and administering benefits management and compensation programs across both Sales and Technology organizations
  • Experience managing a team or track record of mentoring compensation and benefits professionals
  • Experience building and implementing comprehensive global compensation and benefits programs
  • A strong ability to analyze data, be data-driven, create dynamic tools and turn data into insights and action plans aligned with company goals
  • General compensation knowledge, including compliance with state and federal laws that apply to plans in order to develop and evolve structure while complying with regulations
  • The ability to drive consensus and engagement across a wide variety of stakeholders in multiple parts of the business
  • Excitement about working in a high-growth, constantly changing environment
  • A high level of proficiency with Excel

Ideally, You'll Also Have

  • A high level of proficiency with HRIS (Workday), Performance Management Systems and market data or similar tools
  • Strong vendor relationship management skills and vendor negotiation experience
