Occupational Summary:

Be a leader in a brand new concept of patient care in the Duke University Health System: a series of new ambulatory surgery centers in Wake County. DUHS's immediate opening for Clinical Operations Director, Arringdon Ambulatory Surgery Center is a once in a career opportunity. You'll come in on the ground floor to help build and grow this initiative, starting with the first Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center in Arringdon, NC. Your leadership will help bring this new concept to life, build the team to deliver exceptional care, and open the door to grow with Duke from the ground up.

The ideal candidate has the ability to lead effectively in a matrixed organization requiring high levels of collaboration, sound judgment, and significant operational and practice management expertise. Plus, as a leader, you are expected to demonstrate a high level of responsibility, ethical practice, sensitivity to a diverse patient population, adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, and have knowledge of:

  • Physician practice management
  • Clinical operational issues
  • Research practice that contribute to effective and efficient care structures and processes
  • Health care payment systems
  • Sound financial management practices
  • Relevant legislation and regulation

Clinical Operations Director, Arringdon Ambulatory Surgery Center be responsible in several areas, including:

Collaboration and partnership across DUHS

  • Management and leadership
  • Strategic planning
  • Finance and growth
  • Operational oversight
  • Nursing practice


  • Bachelorette or higher in Nursing and a Master's degree is required.


  • Five years of nursing experience is required including at least 2 years of experience in a management role.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Nurses hired into leadership positions must obtain a leadership certification within three months of hire. New nurse leaders who are ineligible to sit for an exam because they have not been working in a leadership role for the minimum amount of time required must complete their certification within three months of becoming eligible.
