The AVP, Reconditioning Production Operations directs and coordinates the overall operations and activities of reconditioning to ensure optimum efficiency and economy of operations and to maximize profits. This position will oversee the shop workforce, capital expenses, financials and own the management responsibilities of all areas of reconditioning production. They direct the activities so that services are completed on schedule, production volume goals are attained, and the work meets quality standards. They implement quality-control programs and policies. This position regularly analyzes production performances and makes changes as necessary. Throughout the production process, the AVP Reconditioning Production Operations oversees the employees and the process to ensure safety procedures are followed and performance goals are met.

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all areas of reconditioning operations to ensure operational efficiency and having an ongoing awareness of market conditions and trends to ensure effective reaction to market changes
  • Initiates and coordinates major projects by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, resolving problems and reporting results of the process flow on shift production summaries (e.g., shop layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.) and completing other related duties and projects as required
  • Identifies, recommends and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and directs the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards
  • Leads and coordinates various programs essential to reconditioning production procedures (e.g., training, safety, housekeeping, cost reduction, worker involvement, security, etc.)
  • Prepare, implement and monitor annual budget to determine costs and effectiveness of budget plan. Analyze department budget requests to identify non-value-added costs and better allocate the operating budget, to ensure the budget is within guidelines
  • Review all reconditioning expenses (i.e., payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, maintenance, etc.) and monitor reconditioning financial status
  • Directly responsible for adding value to existing processes, systems or products as part of day-to-day activities and analyzing and resolving issues that require consideration for at least two dimensions (operational, financial and/or human)
  • Assists company leadership and senior staff members in development and recommends reconditioning policies, programs, and objectives of long and short-range planning that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation
  • Maintain an active role with customers to ensure high quality service and products.
  • Work and communicate with department managers and supervisors to coordinate department activities. Confer with administrative staff and review activity/reports to determine if changes in services, programs or processes are necessary
  • Communicate reconditioning goals, objectives and report findings to align with department goals to achieve desired results. Act as a liaison during conversations with employees to be sure expectations are clearly relayed and being met
  • Ensures employee safety by performing routine safety observations and equipment inspections. Apply the use of tools such as Lean Production to improve quality, cost, safety and cycle time
  • Guides, monitors and develops teams to foster continuous improvement. Sets realistic objectives and clearly assigns accountability and responsibility for tasks and decisions

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Economics, or equivalent required, advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years in leadership role with managerial experience in positions with increasing responsibilities required or A minimum of 7 years of experience managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer.
  • 12+ years of experience in automotive, manufacturing management, preferably in a process-orientated operations and/or related industry.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Effective and competent management, leadership and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor staff

  • 25% Travel
  • Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute the duties of the position successfully within required timeframes to meet business requirements.
