Job Summary

The Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program Assistant Director will work with the Director and VIP Leadership team on both strategic initiatives and administration of the College of Engineering's Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program. The Assistant Director will support the program growth by facilitating new cross-disciplinary project opportunities and partnerships both on campus and externally and assisting in identifying and obtaining funding for program activities. Additionally, the Assistant Director will provide leadership in developing student recruitment activities and promotional materials.

The Assistant Director will play an active role in developing and delivering professional development and educational material to VIP team faculty advisors (instructors), graduate student mentors and students. Additionally, the Assistant Director will help develop, design and utilize analytical tools for the evaluation and assessment of the VIP Program, as well as support the Director and other faculty in Engineering Education with research activities related to VIP.

Administrative responsibilities will include coordinating the scheduling of VIP Program courses and professional development opportunities, communicating with VIP team's current and potential advisors, mentors and students, facilitating the collection of data and writing of the annual report, reviewing external requests for collaboration, and reviewing internal requests for project support.


  • Master's degree, with at least a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field
  • Three (3) years of experience in higher education programs involving students, administrators, faculty, and staff and/or project management
  • Understanding of design and research processes
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training and educational materials to diverse audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively build trusting and productive relationships within and external to the University
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience in delivering effective project reports and written materials
  • Detail-oriented and able to execute and support multiple projects


  • Ph.D.
  • Experience with student assessment and/or engineering education research
