Job Description

The Area Sales Leader is focused on a specific geographic area within the Market while supporting the overall Market initiatives. They have a high degree of focus on attracting experienced advisors in addition to driving organic sales growth. Areas of responsibility and focus include performance coaching, advisor partnership and community outreach. This role works closely with local advisors to help them execute on their sales goals and further establish their individual practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Focus on experienced advisor acquisition strategy to recruit quality advisors to existing teams, individual contributors, teams/small BDs and to develop bank relationships by recruiting to financial institutions
  • Identify book acquisition opportunities and succession plans for current advisors
  • Community outreach and involvement to identify and cultivate centers of influence and deliver back to the Market
  • Develop, create and oversee a network of industry contacts, association memberships and trade groups
  • Associate and Assistant talent sourcing to funnel to advisors to interview for key positions on their team (college system relationships, COI's, Weylman System, etc.)
  • Help drive area infiltration and community outreach
  • Master W&R Recruiting Sales System
  • Create more recruiting COI's (become active member of FPA association, NAIFA, Society of Financial Professionals)
  • Source books of business for advisor purchase
  • Establish and lead the formal Training and Development Program of the Market
  • Help advisors with "best practices on" training, assessment and management of their advisor staff (Advisor Associate, Advisor Assistant, Paraplanner, Marketing/Social Media, Business Manager etc.)
  • Guide advisors on building their business and by helping them uncover new business opportunities and improve sales skills and techniques
  • Master and utilize the sales system when guiding advisors on acquiring new clients and growing sales
  • Be an adopter and promoter of new product/ technology launches and offer advisor training/development resources
  • Know the technology platform language and how to leverage for sales growth
  • Evaluate operational issues in regards to advisor satisfaction, client acquisition and determine areas of opportunity, identifying ways to overcome gaps
  • Execute on specific new business identification strategies
  • Identify potential team creations, work with existing teams to develop culture, operations, communication and cohesive performance
  • Build rapport with advisors to help create a retention plan for advisors and clients
  • Help FAs develop an Investment Philosophy and an Insurance Sales Process
  • Provide support for joint meetings as needed
  • Master and train on the FPC including
  • Case Prep
  • Leveraging eMoney
  • Utilize resources like the Fast Desk and other Financial Planning vendors to be knowledgeable at all things Financial Planning
  • Understand how to utilize GPS to grow revenue
  • Rainmaking for Advisors for new client acquisition (Joining Associations, Meeting with CPA Firms, e)
  • Provide support for new advisor "launch" development
  • Offer Advisor Development Workshops
  • Provide guidance on how to convert clients to the Financial Planning Fee Model
  • Support local marketing events
  • Connection to Wholesalers as appropriate at the right time for the need of the advisor
  • Local community relationship development
  • Build local brand awareness through implementation of marketing plans and events
  • At the Market Director's discretion, this position must work closely with FAD OSJ to support the firm's multifaceted supervisory platform
  • Assist the Market Director in managing the Market at all times in accordance with all applicable policies

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • FINRA Registrations: Series 7, 24 and 63, 65 or 66 and insurance licenses for annuity and life insurance
  • Series 9/10 in lieu of Series 24; however, must obtain Series 24 within 90 days of hire
  • At least 5 years of field leadership experience in the financial services industry
