OverviewCharge Registered Nurse RN, Nuero Orthopedic Unit, Full Time, Nights Sign on Bonus available for qualified candidates.BSA Health System is an extensive hospital system providing clinical excellence to the Texas Panhandle and the tri-state area. BSA is acclaimed for its superior quality and customer service. The Orthopedic/Neurology (Ortho/Neuro) 7th floor is a 35-bed unit where growth and learning opportunities continue as licensed staff achieve their NIH Stroke Scale certification built into nursing orientation. Staff use a variety of their assessment and nursing skills plus tend to build longer patient relationships and work easily with different teams (nursing and therapy teams). The average patient mix is 75% Orthopedic/Neurology patients and 25% medical surgical overflow. The unit is supported by a team consisting of the Unit Secretary, Patient Care Technicians, Transporters, Nutrition Ambassadors, RN's, RN Shift Supervisor's, a Clinical Educator, the Nurse Manager and Director along with a strong Physical and Occupational Therapy presence working as a cohesive team to ensure excellent patient care. ResponsibilitiesThe Charge Nurse is a Registered Nurse who is accountable for coordination of all care for a specific patient population on an assigned shift, in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and the policies and procedures of BSA. The Charge Nurse also has managerial responsibilities including, but not limited to, staffing, scheduling, employment development, and budget and performance improvement activities. Job DutiesDemonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of the Nursing Process for patients in the following age groups: Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics.Documents thoroughly as care is delivered, following regulatory and hospital requirements.Participates in the responsible management of health care resources.Assumes responsibility for clinical competencies and professional development of self and others.Demonstrates leadership to staff and in management of department activities.Practices in a clinical environment through application of theoretical knowledge and practical skillsAbility to work varied shifts and/or days including weekends and holidays QualificationsLicenses and Certifications:Current Texas RN licenseCPR certifiedACLS certified Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Previous medical surgical nursing experience required; 3+ years preferredLeadership and management skills in a healthcare environmentAssess, plan, evaluates, documents total nursing processFlexible, organized, self-motivated with exceptional follow-through skillsComputer skills necessary; Microsoft Office, EMR EPIC documentationMulti-task constantly and tolerate multiple interruptionsAbility to delegate and give clear instructions to othersAbility to function under stressful situationsClear and effective communication with patients, families, and other healthcare professionalsCompassionate customer service skillsCommitted to patient, family, and visitor satisfaction
