CH: U3700 Neonatal ICU (Full-time, Day shift) - Our mission is to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ. The Charge Nurse provides supervision and management to a team of licensed and unlicensed nursing staff during an assigned shift on a designated unit. Collaborates with the leadership team (Director, Manager, and other Charge Nurses) to ensure continuity of care is provided from shift-to-shift, twenty four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Serves as a resource to staff and provides direct patient care as needed. Serves as a role model and provides positive influence to facilitate change. Utilizes interpersonal skills to maximize customer service in a manner that supports excellence in customer service, safe patient care, and professionalism. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed. Bachelor of Science Degree in nursing required if hired after October 1, 2020. If hired prior to October 1, 2020, Bachelor's degree may be in progress, or, an Associate's Degree in nursing with a Bachelor's degree in another field and a Master's Degree in nursing required. If hired prior to October 1, 2020, Master's Degree may be in progress. Minimum of three years nursing experience in area of specialty in a facility with an equivalent patient acuity CH: U3700 Neonatal ICU (Full-time, Day shift) - level required. Minimum of one year of prior management or supervisory experience preferred. Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required. Additional Certification is required if assigned to the other cost centers/departments. Substantial knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation, finance, performance improvement, quality, patient safety, evidenced-based clinical practice standards, medical staff structure, legal aspects of care, and nursing scope of practice required. Demonstrates proficient competencies in clinical nursing. Ability to apply theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands knowledge base and clinical skills with a focus in area of specialty and population served. Demonstrates a high degree of social skills in obtaining cooperation and support from a broad range of licensed and unlicensed people and ability to work effectively with physician, nursing, administrative, ancillary and ambulatory staff. Knowledge and application of adult learning principles, management and utilize problem-solving methodologies in a proactive and creative manner. Exhibits professional behavior and appearance at all times. Able to speak, read and write legibly in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer, printer and software programs necessary to the position, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical record, electronic event reporting program; relate and communicate positively, effectively and professionally with others; able to inspire and motivate others; be assertive and consistent in following and enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; use sound judgment based on factual information and clinical knowledge; work independently with minimal supervision; meet deadlines; perform basic math and statistical functions; demonstrate expert time management and effectively manage and prioritize fluctuating workload to meet position demands; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records and written documents necessary to position; exhibit professional behavior at all times and display personal qualities such as kindness, compassion, understanding, integrity, respect, sense of humor, discretion and confidentiality.
