Our patients are stable but critically ill and can change in condition rapidly. Nurse to Patient Ratio is 1:4-6, based on acuity with support from Patient Care Techs. Each room is semi-private, and some rooms are equipped with telemetry monitoring. Our unit consists of patients requiring acute rehabilitation, support for chronic conditions and ventilator support. We take care of a wide variety of complex medical patients with acute and chronic disorders including post cardiac arrest, pneumonia, sepsis, acute hypoxic respiratory failure, CVA acute rehabilitation and other respiratory, cardiac renal and GI/GU conditions. Patients on our unit have specialty equipment and devices including G-tubes, PICC lines, chest tubes, High flow Nasal Cannula, tracheostomies, mechanical ventilation. blood transfusions and non-titratable drips. Our nurses will be trained in a fast-paced environment and will be ACLS certified to be able to provide care for the patient population. We have dedicated teams of providers and respiratory therapists that are on the unit to assist in the care of our patients. While HICU is critical and fast-paced, we have stellar teamwork.
