Job Summary and Qualifications
Under general supervision of the Manager of Cardiopulmonary and under the guidance of qualified Pulmonologist, this position exists to assure principle responsibility for the respiratory assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of each patient assigned. The CRT cares for patients in the age ranges as listed: neonate, infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric.
Maintains department supply levels.
Assists with the orientation of new personnel.
Maintains equipment and rentals.
Washes, dries and stores all non-disposable equipment.
Assists in completion of Quality Assessment and improvement activity including planning for course of action to resolve problems that are identified.
Provides general supervision of Respiratory Students from affiliated programs while on duty.
Initiates, administers and monitors all modalities of Respiratory Care as identified in the department policy and procedure manual.
Completes documentation of therapy appropriately.
Accurately verifies order.
Adheres to shift specific responsibilities.
Participates in CPR as functional member of the code team.
Performs diagnostic testing, including EKGs, apply Holter monitor and Pulmonary Function.
Obtains arterial blood gases and performs analysis.
Performs troubleshooting and assists with routine maintenance including quality controls for blood gas machine.
Maintains current ACLS/CPR certification.
Complies with and adheres to HCA's ethics and compliance in the Code of Conduct. Attends annual training sessions.
What qualifications you will need:
Experience:
Prefer 1 year experience as a therapist in an acute care facility
Education:
Graduate of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Care
Qualifications:
State of Texas Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner certification required
Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
