Job Description

Vaco's client is looking for a staff accountant to join their growing team. This position will be fully onsite - local candidates only, please. Key Responsibilities: Cost Analysis: Conduct thorough cost analysis on various aspects of the organization's operations, including production, inventory, and projects. Identify cost-saving opportunities, inefficiencies, and recommend strategies for improved financial performance. Costing Methodologies: Apply advanced costing methodologies to accurately allocate costs and determine product or project profitability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate cost data collection and reporting. Financial Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, including cost variance analysis, budget-to-actual comparisons, and forecasts. Clearly communicate financial insights to management, enabling informed decision-making. Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, valuation, and cost flow processes. Assist in reconciling inventory discrepancies and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Process Improvement: Identify process bottlenecks and inefficiencies related to costing and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and data integrity. Budgeting and Forecasting: Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing accurate cost projections and insights into cost trends. Collaborate with finance team members to ensure alignment between financial plans and operational objectives. Audit Support: Assist in internal and external audits by providing detailed cost information, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as operations, procurement, and project management to gather cost-related data, provide financial guidance, and facilitate cost-effective decision-making. Software Proficiency: Utilize accounting software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to maintain accurate cost data, perform analyses, and generate reports. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Proven experience as a Staff Accountant, preferably with a focus on costing and cost analysis. Strong proficiency in cost accounting principles, methodologies, and techniques. Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
