FWA arrangements are subject to manager approval and may shift due to changes in business needs. This position is based in Austin, TX. To ensure alignment, we follow these fundamental core values: Service, Collaboration, Inclusivity, Excellence, Future-focused, and Integrity.Must be eligible to work in the US on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.PurposeReporting directly to the Senior Financial Analyst and working collaboratively as a Central Business Service (CBS) team member, this position fulfills key strategic financial operations and reporting responsibilities and related activities in support of Extended Education Ventures (EEV) and Academic Affairs.The Accountant II's primary goal is to ensure accurate recording, examination, analysis, and reporting of financial data for Extended Education Ventures (EEV), Academic Affairs, and other various financial projects. You will work closely with various internal teams to reconcile revenue and expenses, produce financial reports, and support asset management.ResponsibilitiesAccounting- Reconcile revenue booked in various internal operational systems to university accounting records (DEFINE). Assist with maintenance of the EEV financial coding structure needed to reconcile. Process intradepartmental transfers, revenue and expense corrections, and other accounting entries. Reporting- Produce various financialreports in support of Academic Affairs and EEV units. This includes EEV and CSU programming reports, revenue and expense share reports, and ad hoc analysis and reports. Communicate with CSU contacts regarding documentation, information, and questions. Assist and respond to financial inquiries from EEV, Academic Affairs units, and other University back offices. A Data Analysis & Metrics team member in EEV, provide feedback on developing and maintaining key measures, dashboards, and associated reporting.Asset Management- Responsible for the annual inventory certification process by assisting and locating all tagged assets across the portfolio's units. Maintain documents of record for inventory, process asset transfers, and surplus equipment as necessary. Answer questions regarding inventory requirements, maintain annual computer refresh cycles, responsible for computer assignments for new and existing staff, and maintain computer peripheral inventory. Primary contact with LAITS for computer, equipment, and any inventory assistance.Support- Provide backupsupport for departmental deposits and payment request functions, transactions, documentation, purchasing, and travel. Ensure appropriate application of all departmental and University policies and procedures across EEV and Academic Affairs units.Team Collaboration- Participate as an integral member of the CBS team, collaborating on procedures, initiatives and goals in the areas of deposits, payments, accounting, inventory, and reporting.Other related duties as assigned.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years experience in finance, accounting, or related field. Experience working in a business service office and around associated functions (e.g., HR, Procurement, Accounting). Experience in transaction processing, planning, and reporting. Established analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Knowledge and understanding of general accounting procedures and practices. Strong attention to detail and reporting accuracy. Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment. High-level communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel. Demonstrate core values as listed in the general notes section of the posting.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsMore than the required education and experience. One or more years of UT Austin accounting experience. Familiarity with UT mainframe and associated accounting/finance systems. Working knowledge of university accounting and procurement policies and procedures.
