Job Description
The Tax Accountant is responsible for managing the tax planning, reporting and compliance functions. Oversees the completion of tax filings and reporting in compliance with all required regulations. Evaluates tax implications of company activities. Advises on future changes to tax regulations and possible impact to the company. This role reports to the CFO and will work closely with Accounting team. It does not have staff or direct reports.
Primary Responsibilities:
Tax Resolution: Research tax related questions and issues. Resolve tax related issues including payroll taxes.
Supervise the preparation of the annual income tax provision, assist in the preparation of any tax related financial reporting.
Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of tax process.
Oversee the preparation and completing review of federal and state income tax returns.
Ensure accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state, and local income tax returns and other business-related filings.
Prepare quarterly tax payment estimates both federal and state.
Review Forms 8865, 8621, 926 and any other reporting related to LP investments.
Manage state by state tax compliance and filings tracking.
Provide technical assistance on Form 1099 questions.
Lead federal and state and local income tax audits.
Identify tax issues, complete technical tax research, and participate in various tax projects.
Liaison with outside tax consultants and independent auditors
Responsible for day-to-day tax matters.
Thorough knowledge of functional areas of tax
Monitor legislative and regulatory tax developments and communicate the potential effects of these developments.
Qualifications:
Bachelors in accounting with a Tax focus
3+ years of progressive tax experience within a public accounting or corporate tax environment
Proficiency with all Microsoft applications, QuickBooks, and QuickBooks online
Current understanding of tax law and accounting functions.
Strong technical and research background including ability to make decisions and recommend solutions in accordance with applicable laws.
Experience applying and researching provisions of ASC 740 and SSAP 101
Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with governmental officials, IRS agents, taxing authorities and jurisdictions.
Ability to multitask and prioritize, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships through all levels of the organization.
