Georgia Southern University is passionate about serving our region while preparing our students to be lifelong scholars, leaders, and responsible stewards of their communities and the world.Location Statesboro Campus - Statesboro, GADepartment Information Academic Success CenterJob Summary Serve as the primary facilitator of educational support programs and initiatives for academically vulnerable student populations, including (but not limited to): Students on Academic Intervention (AI), First Semester Freshmen, First-Generation students, students on Learning Support (LS), student in need of accommodations, and other populations as they are identified by the institution. Support students through the creation, maintenance, and completion of an individual Academic Improvement Plan (AIP). Orient students to applicable University policies and resources. Provide instruction to improve academic outcomes for all students in a variety of formats, which may include (but not be limited to): GSU 1000: Academic Improvement Coaching, small group sessions, presentations, workshops, and teaching FYE 1220. Maintain positive relationships with assigned students, monitor progress, and provide feedback, ongoing support, and accountability. This position has been identified by Federal Law (Jeanne Clery Act) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), with significant student and campus responsibilities. CSA's are obligated to report crimes reported to them which occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the University.Responsibilities Assist with delivery of GSU 1000 curriculum and presenting content relevant to academic intervention Conduct one-on-one appointments, establish communication, and provide ongoing support to 200+ students (individual consultation sessions to assist students in making progress on their Academic Improvement Plans), and guide students in the completion of surveys, inventories, and assessments Provide guidance in the creation of SMART goals, Academic Improvement Plans (AIP), and other exercises relevant to the development of student success and wellbeing Acclimate students to university policy (e.g. academic standing and intervention) and connect students to academic support services and other campus resources as appropriate Respond constructively to a wide range of student concerns, and (where appropriate) collaborate with or direct students to relevant student support teams across campus, including but not limited to Academic Advisement, Student Athlete Services, Instructors, Office of the Registrar, Counseling Center, etc. Work with non-AI students through opt-in services and Satisfactory Academic Progress paperwork and track students throughout semester to review student progress and continued use of support services.
