33 years of Construction Experience
I have been on Highway projects at age 9. Operating a shovel or steel wheel roller on the asphalt crew. I know safety didn't seem important back then but those men worked year after year. They had the occasional smashed finger or heat related incidents. The biggest safety tool they had that today's employees don't have is they aren't distracted by phones. Communication was face to face or company CB's. The best words of Safety I ever heard one of the guys said "HARD HATS ON CELL PHONES OFF"
