Today is International Day of Friendship! Jacob Jack Owuor Onyango, a first born in a family of two boys and three girls dropped out of school due to lack of school fees. This was indeed a tough time for me as I was forced to seek employment to make ends meet any way possible,"" Jack recalls. In 2008, he decided to engage in farming in the village cultivating kale and tomatoes to make ends meet. Jack and his friends formed a youth farming group and in 2009 started participating in WN program, Friends of Katuk-Odeyo Community Development Program (FOCODEP) where they received improved seeds and skills in agronomic techniques specifically on horticulture and livestock production. With the skills acquired Jack improved his agricultural production - sorghum, maize, tomatoes and vegetables. This increased production has enabled Jack to be food secure for several months in a year and enhanced his income through sale of the agricultural products. #internationaldayoffriendship #worldneigbors #WNKenya
