Kar Muthumani, Ph.D., assistant professor in Wistars Vaccine and Immune Therapy Center, is in Singapore at the 2017 International Union of Microbiological Societies presenting encouraging data on a DNA vaccine targeting Zika virus developed at Wistars Vaccine and Immune Therapy Center led by Dr. David Weiner. This is the first summary presentation of the labs novel Zika DNA vaccine outside the U.S. and Europe, and highlights the early stages of the vaccines development and recent successes. Dr. Muthumani was also invited to the National University of Singapore, NUS Biological Sciences department, to speak with students and staff about his work on the synthetic DNA vaccine approach for emerging infectious diseases.
