If you have children in the hospital worried that they might miss Santa Claus since theyre away from home, who do you call? Nassau County first responders! Police paramedics brought the North Pole to NYU Winthrop Hospital, sliding up to the front entrance in a sleigh filled with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, helpful elves and colorful friends collected along Reindeer Way including Minnie and Mickey Mouse, Pluto, Winnie the Pooh, Buzz Lightyear and more. After handing out candy canes in the main lobby, the first responders raced up to the pediatric unit to meet and greet children of all ages in a day of delight. Nassaus first responders are never off duty, tending to the needs of our communities. Thank you to the Nassau County Police Medic Association! A big thank you to all of the dedicated NYU Winthrop Hospital staff caring for our patients this Christmas!

May your holiday be as bright as a fully-lit menorah! It was a beautiful evening as NYU Winthrop Hospital celebrated the lighting of the menorah in the Serenity Chapel. Rabbi Anchelle Perl of Congregation Beth Sholom oversaw the special gathering on the fourth day of Chanukahs eight-day wintertime festival of lights. The menorah symbolizes a miracle long ago when all that remained to light a temples holy candelabrum was a one-day supply of oil but that oil instead lasted for eight days until new oil could be prepared with proper ritual. In its annual ritual, NYU Winthrop welcomed guests and staff as Rabbi Perl recited special blessings, and four candles were lit, one by one, by Amy Wolin, Director of Charge Integrity; Barry Rosenthal, MD, Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine; Anne Niesenbaum, MD; and Leonard Krilov, MD, Chairman of Pediatrics.
