Today in 1962, Julia Child made her first appearance on TV, as a guest on the WGBH program, "Ive Been Reading." As she describes in "My Life in France," Julia discussed "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" with host Albert Duhamel, and made a mushroom omelet on camera. WGBH received 27 letters about the show and the consensus was clearviewers wanted more cooking on TV and more Julia Child! Heres Julia several years later making an omelette on "The French Chef."
