Standard medical setting in a correctional facility, which includes daily interfacing with inmates, correctional staff, and health care personnel. Temperature extremes may be encountered while moving throughout the facility outdoors and indoors in buildings without air conditioning.
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible and accountable for structuring comprehensive planning and implementing the Nursing Services Program that guides the delivery of a quality health care program.
Works closely with and maintains good relationships with the Regional Medical Director, the Director of Operations, the Regional Administrator, the site Health Care Unit Administrator and the state and county medical authority.
Oversees the contract-wide health care delivery system and day-to-day leadership of service delivery areas' (SDAs) Regional Administrators (RA's) in the operation of service delivery area facility health care units.
Supervise staff in: cleaning of teeth, making impressions for prosthetic devices, planning and maintaining an oral hygiene program, completing appropriate records accurately and all procedures associated with the provision of dental care.
Serves as a liaison between the medical/clinical staff, correctional site operations, corporate and regional offices, and the state correctional and medical leadership for all things related to Utilization Management.
Ensures that established sick call processes ensure patient access to medically necessary services. Ensures that established suicide prevention programs are implemented to identify, refer, and treat patients who are at risk for suicide.
