Now, shes back in Nigeria -- and into the problems she tried to escape in the first place. Many refugees were part of a forced return, driven out of their new home to face the issues of their former. Artist and former Chinese political prisoner Ai Weiwei is confrontational and blunt. He stared down toy-making giant Lego in 2015 after the corporation refused to supply him with their notorious colorful, plastic bricks for use in a political art piece. The company, mounted by pressure from Ais loyal, online followers, blinked first. Today, Ais collection is featured in the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C. He showcases on the floor 176 portraits of dissidents, political prisoners and activists, including Nelson Mandela and Edward Snowden. Reece Whitley would love for it to be otherwise, for the notion of an African American swimmer to be a norm instead of a novelty. The sport simply isnt there yet. Elite-level swimming success for blacks in the United States has a short history, but the 17-year-old may just change that. When Whitley is invariably asked about his potential impact on swimming because of his skin color he has the patience to answer, Right now its a relevant question, so I dont take any shame in answering it.
