Im double majoring in art and philosophy and Im pre-law. My work was featured in the Stamps Undergraduate Juried Exhibition, which was located in downtown Ann Arbor. The panel of jurors who handled the selection process chose 86 out of 400 submitted works. I submitted two pieces; one was accepted. Ive grown up around art, always loved and appreciated it. Ive been drawing for as long as I can remember so I knew I was going to be involved in art. However, I dont plan on going into art & design as a career. The reason Im an art major is because I study art with the intention of applying it in different contexts. So, for example, in drawing, youre forced to problem-solve, pay excruciating attention to detail...and I really love that process. I want to go into a field called art law, which is the intersection of copyright, intellectual property law, and the actual recovery of lost and stolen artwork. Im interested in being an artist for the CIA or FBI artist. Drawing is my favorite type of art. I mostly do figurative work. Recently Ive recently been getting into time-based art, which is film, sound art, animation, and Ive been doing a lot of stop-motion animation. People inspire me. I latch onto a lot of details and I love analyzing everyones little quirks. There are a lot of things that people do that most dont notice. Everyone has a different gait, a different way they hold their drink, and these nuances inspire me. Inspiration is ubiquitous for me. Its everywhere. However, there are blocks of time when inspiration is hard to come by. What I tend to do when Im struggling iswell, my style is very tight, precise, and realistic, and if Im having a hard time being creative or thinking of what I want to create, Ill start with what they call ""gesture"" drawing, just making super gestural movements. Ill grab a stylus and literally let my hand guide me. Getting something on paper, even if its not in the direction I want to go, helps me. When you can stop overthinking things and just start putting things down with no direction, you find out that you have unlimited potential. #WolverinesOfAnnArbor Swipe
