SMECO recently awarded a $4,500 contribution from CoBank Christmas in April Calvert County, Christmas in April St. Mary's County, Inc., and Rebuilding Together Charles County. SMECO recently donated 32,688 ENERGY STAR certified LEDs to help families who need assistance save money by reducing energy use. As part of the EmPOWER Maryland program, SMECO partnered with the Southern Maryland Food Bank to provide ways for families with limited resources to reduce energy costs. Replacing an incandescent bulb with an LED can save up to $55 in electricity during the bulbs lifetime. https://www.smeco.coop/news/food-bank-LEDs
