As has been widely reported, on the morning of Monday, December 8th a private jet crashed into a neighborhood near Gaithersburg, MD, killing the three passengers on the plane and three occupants of a residence near the Montgomery County airpark. It is with incredible sadness that we report that the plane destroyed the home of Ken Gemmell, one of our key engineers, killing his wife and two young children. Ken was at work at the time of the crash, and his seven year-old daughter was at school. Everyone at Savi is shocked and deeply saddened by this horrible tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers are with the Gemmell family. We are committed to supporting Ken and his daughter for the long term. To start that process Savi has established the Arabelle Gemmell fund, designed to establish a college fund for Kens surviving daughter, in memory of her mother and two brothers. Everyone interested in joining the company and its employees in contributing to this fund can do so by going to https://www.crowdrise.com/GemmellCollegeFund. We ask that everyone respect the familys desire for privacy at this very difficult time. The outpouring of support has been remarkable, and we ask that you continue to keep Ken and his family in your thoughts and prayers as they cope with this enormous loss.
