@nickhawkinsphotography for @rainforestalliance: A velvet purple coronet hummingbird visits the brilliant red bloom of an epiphytic flower high in the cloud forests of Ecuador. Pollination is an intimate affair in the Choc forest, with thousands of years of isolation leading to the convolution of unique relationships between plant, animal and insect species. @ilcp_photographers #RainforestAlliance #IGtakeover #FollowTheFrog #hummingbird #pollination #Choc #savethechoco #iLCP

@nickhawkinsphotography for @rainforestalliance: Camera traps are our eyes in the forest for #TheMashpiProject - allowing us to photograph shy rainforest species, the icons of the Ecuadorian Choc. After three months of camera trapping we are excited to share some unique images of some of the rainforests most elusive animals, soon to be released in an upcoming coffee table book celebrating the Choc forests and calling for conservations action before it''s too late. This tayra, a large species of weasel, is one of the more common species to show up on my camera traps. @ilcp_photographers #RainforestAlliance #IGtakeover #FollowTheFrog #cameratrap #iLCP

@nickhawkinsphotography for @rainforestalliance: The Choc rainforest of Panama, Colombia and Ecuador is one of the most biologically and culturally diverse areas on Earth. It has been separated from the rest of the South American continent by the Andes mountains for thousands of years, leading to the evolution of many unique plant and animal species - many are yet to be discovered. #TheMashpiProject unites science, ecotourism, and environmental education to help preserve the Choc. Happy to be working with this talented team of artists, photographers, writers, and conservationists to raise global awareness for these vanishing forests. @ilcp_photographers #RainforestAlliance #IGtakeover #FollowTheFrog #nature #conservation #Ecuador #choco #tropics #natgeolodges #Mashpi #conservationphotography #Quito #Pichincha #SaveTheChoco #MashpiLodge #iLCP

@nickhawkinsphotography for @rainforestalliance: Deep in the heart of the Indio-Maiz Biosphere Reserve of Nicaragua, the indigenous Rama and Afro-descendant Kriol people are fighting for their culture and traditions - and the preservation of one of the last great rainforest of Central America. Illegal cattle ranchers and land traffickers are invading Indio-Maiz and quickly deforesting the area. Now, with the help of @global_wildlife_conservation, the Rama and Kriol are organizing against this threat with a professional ranger program working to demarcate their territory and implement strategies to confront the invasion of their ancestral lands.
