Meet NCSA Blue Waters Intern Gage Russell! "Being roughly 70 hours into supercomputing training for the Blue Waters Student Internship Program, I can undoubtedly say this is the best thing to ever happen for my career as a petroleum engineer with a passion for and focus on computer science. So far we have covered OpenMP, MPI, OpenACC, hybrid parallel programming techniques, GPGPUs, scientific libraries, computational visualization techniques, and so much more! With only three more days of training left, I am dying to start applying all of this to my project of prototyping a reservoir simulator at a petascale level with co-intern Justus Brown and our mentors, Zulfiquar Reza and Xiaomeng Dong. Thank you to Shodor, NSF, NCSA, Blue Waters, and Dr. Reza for opening so many doors for me in such a short amount of time! Not to mention, Aaron Weeden and Dr. Robert M (Bob) Panoff along with the other Shodor and NCSA staff have done an amazing job with the BWSIP training curriculum and logistics this year! "
