  • Happy #Dataween! Check out our Story and see why we data!
  • PAUL DECKER, CEO: Being an #employeeowned company means the work we go after is determined by staff, not by management. SONIE BARGER, CFO: Which means we control our own destiny. LISA SCHWARTZ, senior VP: When you work at an #ESOP, everyone is in it for the common good! ADAM COYNE, Senior VP and chief of staff: Mathematica is a place where everybody has a voice. There arent many organizations that pull together town halls and other meetings where everyone on staff is invited to speak their mind. But we do. #ESOPtober #EmployeeOwnershipMonth #MathPolESOP
  • #Halloween is here at Mathematica!
  • JOHN CZAJKA, senior fellow: Mathematica was a publicly traded company when I came here in 1978, and in 1983 we were sold to Martin Marietta, which is now Lockheed Martin. We bought ourselves back in 1986. That was a big leap! We had fewer than 100 employees, and I think just about every one of them perceived the move as a major risk. But this was a time when many companies were buying other companiesand we saw what was happening to companies like ours. Buying ourselves back from Martin Marietta was a way of protecting ourselves. It allowed us thenas it does nowto run the business the way we want to and do work we consider important. Before the buy-out, we used to joke about being a for-profit company, because we rarely had anyprofits, that is. But almost as soon as we became #employeeowned, the company took off, and we started to become profitable. This is a story with a happy ending. For me, from a financial perspective, investing in Mathematica was far and away the best thing Ive ever done. And becoming employee-owned is probably the best decision the companys ever made. #EmployeeOwnershipMonth #ESOPtober #MathPolESOP
