James Schmitt of Eau Claire was the first patient through the doors at 7am on Monday, October 2nd, our first day seeing patients at the new Eau Claire Cancer Center. He was greeted by an enthusiastic care team, including his phlebotomist Sue Plaszcz-Bergh. James was on his way to work at the Eau Claire Area School District, after spending the weekend in Minneapolis having finished the Twin Cities Marathon (averaging 9 min miles!!). James is in ""maintenance mode"" and is just weeks away from what all hope will be the day he is considered cancer free. #eauclaire #eauclairewi #cancer #cancercare #phlebotomist #TwinCitiesMarathon #marathon #running #cancerawareness #marshfieldclinic #oncology

On September 25th, Lloyd Anseth, D.D.S., accomplished a major goal he set for himself years ago. He has officially retired as a colonel in the U.S. Air Force and Reserves. Im thankful to have accomplished this goal, Dr. Anseth said, thankful to have maintained my health and to be here at Marshfield Clinic. He has had his civilian oral surgery practice in Stevens Point since 2009 while staying active in the military. Marshfield Clinic is large enough to have reservists working, with policies and procedures in place making it possible for them to better understand concerns they have if called up for an extended time. There are at least 30 MCHS employees who also serve in the military. Besides weekend drill and annual training, some have deployed multiple times. Typical length of time for deployment has been anywhere from two months to five years. Most recently, three individuals from the Clinic have been ordered to active duty for Hurricane Harvey and Irma support. #MarshfieldClinic #HealthCare #AirForce #USAirForce #military #colonel #AirForceColonel #oralsurgery #reserves #hurricaneHarvey #hurricaneIrma

Three-year old Crispin was in several weeks ago at our Eau Claire Center for his well-child visit. He and his mom, Heidi, stopped and watched the construction crew work at the Clinics Eau Claire Hospital site for some time. He really got interested in the building process and big machines. Crispin and his mom started coming every other day or so to watch the hospital go up. A couple of crew members would wave when they saw them and even gave him a hard hat. Yesterday, Clinic staff invited Crispin and his family back for an on-site tour. He sat in the big boom cranes, skid-steers, and had as much of a hands-on experience as safely possible. Thank you Crispin and his family for stopping by! . . . #hospital #construction #EauClaire #health #excavator #heavyequipment #heavymachinery #skidsteer #backhoe #engineering #constructionsite
