MacGregor cares about peoples safety on board: introduces safe personnel handling systems for cranes There are special requirements for personnel handling equipment on board. To guarantee safety on board, MacGregor developed personnel handling system for certain types of cranes in 2012 and has now launched a campaign to promote it. We want to promote our offering and competencies to support our customers who use cranes for lifting people on board ships, says Mikael Nordin, Product Manager in MacGregors Cargo Material Handling competence centre. Classification societies have tightened their rules, among other things, stating that personnel lifting devices must be equipped with dual independent braking systems. All our personnel handling cranes have one brake for cargo handling and another safety brake for personnel handling. Mikael adds: On sailing ships, cranes and winches can be upgraded to follow the news safety rules while the ship is visiting a dock for other reasons, like repair, maintenance and surveys. This means that the ship does not lose any extra sailing days because of our upgrade work which is a great advantage for the shipowner or operator.

We were pleased to have Jan Tore Sanner, Municipal and Modernisation Minister of Norway visiting MacGregor office in Arendal, Norway in 18 May. The theme for the visit was MacGregor's strategic focus area Digitalisation which brings innovation and changes into the market. We showed the Minister MacGregors connectivity with our products worldwide and what benefits it offers to our customers. Mr Sanner tried our VR simulator/showroom to get more "hands-on" operational perspective. We are delighted that he showed great enthusiasm and enjoyed the experience. If you are in NorShipping, Oslo, welcome to test yourself, Stand D02-11.
