When kids get to race remote-controlled monster trucks across a college basketball court, you know theyre in for some fun! Last week, during the womens and mens basketball games at Bakersfield College, crew members from local Les Schwab Tire Centers added to the excitement during half-time by hosting a Les Schwab remote-controlled monster truck giveaway. Bakersfield managers Justin Scott and Brian Loveland had a blast leading the games and pumping up the young fans in the crowd. Its always a pleasure to spend time with members of our community, so we thank the Renegades basketball teams for asking us to be part of last weeks games! Go, Renegades! #OurTownOurStories #ProudSponsor

The San Joaquin Valley Jazz Festival, which runs Feb. 24-25, has been an ongoing tradition for many years educating high school and middle school students from the Central Valley about the musical art of jazz. Professional judges give the student performers feedback both during and after their performances, so they can hone their talents. But the event is also about being inspired. This year, the Fresno City College and Fresno State University jazz bands will perform, as well as Think Group and musician and composer Ben Allison. I want the students to experience the dynamics of professional groups, a group of people that have chemistry and have a dynamic, said Paul Lucckesi, director of jazz bands at Buchanan High School. When the festival is over, the only thing that my kids will talk about is how great the concert was. Musically, it is life-changing for the students. Its clear this festival deepens students love of music and inspires them to continue their studies. Les Schwab Tire Centers has partnered with the Buchanan Jazz Program to offset the cost of this event so as many students as possible can participate. So far, more than 400 students have preordered tickets to this years festival. #OurTownOurStories #ProudSponsor

Every year, community members throughout the county look forward to the Contra Costa County Fair for its carnival rides, cotton candy, 4-H livestock, and all-around good times with family and friends. The fair requires lots of planning and some significant funds to beautify the fairgrounds and purchase new equipment, among other expenses. The local Heritage Foundation, which Les Schwab supports, hosts a membership dinner to raise money. Last month, supporters contributed thousands of dollars to replace the 30-year-old livestock scale with a new, digital one. Crew members from the Les Schwab Tire Centers in Martinez, Oakley, Brentwood and Concord outdid themselves at the fundraiser, outbidding many others during the lively cake auction. They also donated a set of four tires as an auction item, which earned the foundation $800. The fair will start on Thursday, May 18. We hope to see you there! #OurTownOurStories #ProudSponsor

This weekend, nearly 900 competitors will take over the Pepsi Center in Denver on their quest for a State Championship Wrestling title. This exciting event is the culmination of months of hard work on and off the mats. As a longtime supporter of the Colorado High School Activities Association, we look forward to seeing some of the best wrestlers in Colorado compete to realize their dream of becoming a state champion. Best of luck to all; we'll be there supporting you from the stands! #ProudSponsor #OurTownOurStories (Photo Credit: Ryan Casey/CHSAANow.com)
