Construction is officially underway on the new, 40,000-square-foot Unicoi County Memorial Hospital in Erwin, Tennessee. The facility will replace a 64-year-old hospital and is set to feature a 24-hour emergency department and 20 beds, which will provide much-needed local care for residents, including some who currently travel to North Carolina for treatment. The hospital was designed by ESa (Earl Swensson Associates) and is expected to finish in the fall of 2018. It''s Hurricane Preparedness Week, and Layton EVP Tyler Dillon recently talked to Building Industry Hawaii magazine about proactive hurricane planning on the jobsite. Before moving to Hawaii, Tyler survived three direct hits and three near-misses in Florida. Since then, hes helped prepare jobsites for a dozen storm events and helped create Laytons hurricane policy.
