#ThrowbackThursday with an innovator in aerodynamics, the #Kenworth T600. In the early 1980s, the Kenworth team took the conventional W900B as its benchmark in creating aerodynamic design applications. After more than a year of testing and revision, the teams aerodynamic conventional was ready for prototype development. It had a sloped hood, lowered bumpers, sleek fenders, and an air cleaner placed under the hood. The T600 looked far different than anything on the road. Truck drivers are always eager to consider technological changes, but they preferred the styling of conventional trucks. However, the trucks fuel economy numbers were too substantial to ignore: the first users of the T600 saw a significant reduction in fuel bills, which accounted for 20 to 25 percent of operating costs. Tests showed that the T600 was 22 percent more fuel efficient than the W900B. By the end of 1985, T600 sales represented more than 40 percent of Kenworths business. #TheWorldsBest
