  • No doubt, in many ways 2017 has been a difficult year. However, there is also so much to be grateful for: the dedication of our amazing staff, the trust and partnership of our patients, and the support of people like YOU who have stood up for community health care. While there are lots of impressive 2017 stats (record visit & patient numbers, etc.)what stands out the most for us are the people and the stories. Stories like this one shared by our staff**: A pregnant teenager recently called our clinic because she was kicked out of her parent's house. Her father threw cold water on her and dragged her out of the house without shoes. After standing barefoot and freezing in the front yard for two hours, the patient called HealthPoint in tears, unsure where to go or what to do. As soon as they got the call, the teens Care Team went to work collecting resources and coordinating services to help this patient in her time of crisis. One staff member got a taxi voucher, another arranged a pick-up, another looped in the Care Coordinator and got her on the phone with the patient. Other staff collected shoes, blankets and warm food to comfort the patient upon her arrival. Another staff member called St. Vincent DePaul to arrange for the patient to receive clothing. Within an hour the patient was safe, warm, dry, fed, and knew her next step. This level of care and compassion is what sets HealthPoint apart from other healthcare organizations. While a pair of shoes and a cup of hot soup might not seem like healthcare to some, we know that it all connects; you cant live a healthy life or deliver a healthy baby without food, shelter, and support. **Please note: details have been changed or omitted from this story to protect privacy.
