Fonkoze is Haitis largest microfinance institution serving poor and ultra-poor women in rural Haiti, with 46 branches located throughout the country. The name Fonkoze is an acronym for the Haitian Creole phrase “Fondasyon Kole Zepòl” meaning “Shoulder-to-Shoulder Foundation.” Its mission is to build the economic foundations for democracy in Haiti by providing the rural poor with the tools they need to lift themselves out of poverty. PHOTO OF THE WEEK: 9-year old twins Jax and Jaid Nilon, sons of Actress/Talk Show Host Garcelle Beauvais ( @garcelle ) donated children''s clothing and other items to Fonkoze on a recent trip to #Haiti. Garcelle serves as an Honorary Board member of Fonkoze USA. The twins personally picked out the clothes from a store in the US before bringing them. Thank you, Jax and Jaid! We will distribute the items to families in the south, who were the most affected by Hurricane Matthew.
