We are seeing an increase in the number of patients diagnosed with the flu at Frederick Memorial Hospital. In an effort to keep our patients, their visitors, staff, and volunteers as healthy as possible, we are making the following recommendations. Please try to limit visitation to two visitors per patient at a time and do not bring children under the age of sixteen to visit, if at all possible. This will not be an enforced policy, it is simply a recommendation to help us keep everyone healthy. We realize there are certain life events that require a larger group of visitors or younger relatives to be in attendance and we fully support your right to use your best judgment. If you are exhibiting any signs of the flu (fever, headache, sore throat, congestion, chills) then please do not visit patients at the hospital. People with flu symptoms should see their primary care physician or an urgent care center such as Immediate Care as soon as possible. The Emergency Department is not the best place to seek treatment for the flu. Anyone you bring with you to your appointment or sit near in a waiting room is at risk of exposure, so be as cautious as possible. We have flu stations set up at the entrances to the hospital. Visitors can use them on your way in and your way out to sanitize your hands and you can also choose to wear a protective mask while you are visiting. Remember that you can call your loved ones too, instead of visiting. Thank you for helping us to stop the spread of the flu. #FluPrevention #Flu #FrederickMD #StayHealthy
