Today at a press conference at #IAS2017 in Paris, experts and healthcare workers discussed the importance of combating stigma against key populations. Neo Monnapula, a social worker from Botswana who was recognized at the conference for her excellence in providing services to sex workers, said, ""To me, it has been fulfilling to work with sex workers because theyre open, and theyre people just like anyone else: they are mothers, they are sisters, and they need access to services like everyone else."" Neo''s clinic in Botswana is supported by the @usaid and @pepfar -funded LINKAGES project, which is operated by FHI 360. ""LINKAGES has really shown us, and weve been told this by communities from the beginning, that you need to work within the community. Using peer to peer outreach has really made a significant difference over the last three years,"" said PEPFAR Ambassador Deborah Birx.
