Please welcome Dana Merck to the Carteret Community College family. He started this week as the new Dean of Student Services. He is responsible for directing and coordinating Academic Support Services, Admissions, Counseling, Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Advocacy, and TRiO/Student Support Services. Professionally, Dana has held key positions in higher education, local government, the nonprofit sector, and small business development. Recently, he was the Vice President of Student Affairs at Wilberforce University in Ohio, the nations oldest Historically Black University, where he was part of a team of dynamic administrators who were responsible for saving the universitys accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission. Dana received a Bachelors degree in History from Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC, and a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Michigan. He also completed graduate course work at North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. Dana enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and playing tennis.
