    These colorful plates are made up of mutant strains of the pathogenic #yeast, Candida albicans. In a paper for Nature Microbiology, researchers from the lab of Broad institute member Jim Collins, along with colleagues from George Churchs lab at Harvard, showcase a new platform they developed to analyze the complex genetic interactions of these fungal pathogens. The system uses a modified #CRISPR-based #genedrive to facilitate the rapid creation of genetic knock-outs in C. albicans a process that previously had been significantly more difficult and time-consuming.
