The American Geophysical Union (AGU) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the understanding of Earth and space science. The organization was founded in 1919 and is headquartered in Washington, D.C. AGU has a membership of over 60,000 scientists from around the world, including researchers, educators, and students. The organization publishes a number of scientific journals, including the Journal of Geophysical Research and Geophysical Research Letters. AGU also hosts an annual meeting, which is one of the largest scientific conferences in the world.
